#AMANDLACHALLNEGE TAKES OVER!
Yipp Yippee Hooray... It was celebration time yet again
at the Albert Luthuli House (ANC Headquarters) but this time around things were
different. The ANC took a whole new direction and fresh approach to build up
excitement, the buzz, the hype, the vibe, through social media platforms. The
hashtag #Amandlachallenge was trending on everyone’s Twitter and Instagram
timeline building up to the January 10th celebrations that were set to take place
at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town. It trended for more than a week on
Twitter. The Western Cape is not exactly the ANC’s favourite destination due to
obvious reason (The opposition’s nest that is). Anyway that did not stop the
frenzy .The ANC is well known for big celebrations this year was no different.
What
was the challenge all about?
For
those of who do might have missed it and do not know what the #amandlachallenge
was all about… Well it was basically a challenge on twitter Instagram and
Facebook for supporters of the ANC to post a selfie of you with your fist clenched;
the clenching of your fist was to resemble your support for the ANC struggle. It
was very exciting to also take up this challenge I must say and once you had
your selfie taken you just want to take more and more. However the whole point
of the challenge was for you to post the selfie and share it with your
followers and join in on the conversation through hash tagging. The wilder or
most controversial the picture was the more it would be retweeted and shared up
on the twitter Instagram and Facebook streets. It is with no doubt that the ANC
is filled with creative minds who know how to cash in on a trend. The amandla
challenge brought most ANC supporters together under on big umbrella.

Celebrities taking up the challenge.
What was more exciting about the whole #amandlachallenge was seeing my favourite celebrities posting their amandla selfies and taking time of their busy schedules to be a part of this. It was interesting to see who is not afraid to be associated with the African National Congress as this might jeopardise their ‘brands’. Minnie Dhlamini, Chommee ,Arthur Mofokate ,Chriselda Kananda, Zahara , Mafikizolo's Nhlanhla Nciza and hubby TK Nciza are some of the many that are proud cadre's .Minnie Dhlaminis amandla selfie http://goo.gl/YnwUQc |

I think the challenge was an absolutely great, effortless idea because social networking is the trendiest way to get the message across in this day and age. It will take another political party an arm and a leg to outshine the amandla challenge. According to trendwatching.com the challenge was one of the biggest and most successful social media campaigns in South Africa this year which is absolutely amazing!!! I can now safely repeat the words of my president "The ANC will lead till Jesus comes" #Asijiki #KozeKuse. You can search for more selfies using the #Amandlachallenge hashtag on Twitter and Instagram.
This was truly a brilliant idea by the ANC to rally support in this manner since our world today is centered around social media

DeleteMemorie are you ANC member?
ReplyDeleteI must say that the ANC has adapted to the modern way of communicating and being able to lure young minds to supporting them through two things they all enjoy doing and that is posting selfies and mentioning anything that includes a hashtag, seeing that the challenge was a big success, do you think that the public will forget about other unfortunate scandals about ANC and do you think the other population that supports other parties should stop focusing on the negative of what ANC is accused of doing and focusing on the positive?
ReplyDeleteIt is sad that the public is always focusing on the negative side of things turning a blind eye on the houses that the ANC has built , infrastructure, job creations the list is endless but to answer your your question no, A social media campaign will not take away al the problems that the party is facing.
DeleteThe PRP's who were running this campaign did a wonderful job, the # had a appeal to it target audience

Interesting, very easy to understand read, I'm not that much into politics but reading this sparked some curiosity and I want to hear more. It's great that the young is being involved in terms of using social networks for such a particular campaign. I'm impressed. And I absolutely love the blog.
